Project 1 Reflection
1. My project is a painting of a little girl with her younger brother hugging. It was painted with acrylics and on a canvas. This project took me about a week.
2. I think the good/strong parts of my project were the clothing and hair because I think the brushstrokes turned out beautifully and made for nice texture.
3. I think I could have done better on the faces of the children in my project because I feel like they looked unrealistic and rushed. They don't match up to the level of everything else in the painting.
4. I try to show how much of a connection the two of them had at such a young age. The picture will make you smile. That's is what I like to bring out in my art, I hope my art can bring out emotions. But it kind of reminds of the bond I have had with my siblings, I am so blessed for that.
5. I think it shows shows texture and pattern.
6. I think it shows contrast and balance.
7. I learn that I still know how to paint! I didn't have anything to do with art the past year and half or so, so it was nice to know I still have my touch! But I learned that I should never let go of something I enjoy doing.
8. First I out lined the children with pencil on my canvas. Then I did the pink background. Then I painted the children's clothing and hats. Then I painted the children's skin and got all the skin tones down. Then I did the children's hair. I finished it off with doing the details in both the clothing and the children's faces.
9. I never really plan a project. I just go with it. I was planning on painting a totally different project with oils, but when I saw this picture I totally fell in love with it. Whenever I work with acrylics, for some reason, I had to blend the paint. I love to see the individual colors and see each and every brush stroke.
10. Yes, I really enjoyed this project! This makes me excited to do my next project! I want to work with oils next time, and try and get away from just painting with acrylics. I want to challenge myself. I believe I will be doing an oil painting of a husband and wife walking down a sidewalk on a rainy day. But who knows, I could change my mind by then.
